Amer Rožajac at the Balkan Green Summit: How eCommerce Is Shaping a Greener Future

Our Business Development Manager, Amer Rožajac, held a lecture at the Balkan Green Summit in Serbia on the topic Sustainability at a Click: How eCommerce Is Shaping a Green Future.

The Balkan Green Summit 2025, held from May 26 to 28 in Sjenica, brought together experts, managers, and industry leaders from various sectors, with the aim of encouraging sustainable business solutions.

Organised by the Chamber of Commerce of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the event provided a unique opportunity to improve business practices, expand professional networks, and exchange knowledge.
Participants attended expert lectures, panel discussions, and workshops addressing key topics for the future of the economy – including digitalisation, artificial intelligence, energy efficiency, ESG strategies, financial models, sustainable development, the labour market, and more.

One of the speakers was our Business Development Manager, Amer Rožajac, who in his lecture “Sustainability at a Click: How eCommerce Is Shaping a Green Future” presented ways in which digital commerce can play a key role in sustainable development and reducing negative environmental impact.

In his presentation, Amer emphasised that eCommerce, beyond transforming the way we shop, has significant potential to contribute to a more sustainable future:

“Digital commerce is not just a convenience – it’s a game changer for the environment. Fewer physical stores mean lower electricity consumption and less pollution, while optimised delivery and electric vehicles further reduce emissions. Shopping from home makes a real difference for the planet.”

Highlighting the growing need to reduce harmful emissions, he also addressed the importance of hybrid vehicles and sustainable travel:

“Technology enables us to be more sustainable without sacrificing comfort. More and more eCommerce companies are choosing environmentally friendly vehicles, and area-based delivery reduces the individual need to drive to shopping centres – ultimately saving resources.”

Speaking about the broader context of sustainability, Amer also reflected on the shift in consumer habits, which are increasingly leaning toward more conscious and responsible purchasing:

“eCommerce has empowered us to shop responsibly. More and more, we choose local, recycled, and sustainable products, while avoiding unnecessary travel and paper documentation. It’s no longer just about shopping – it’s about making mindful choices.”
